BURATINO, SON OF PINOCCHIO

One autumn night, when Maria Carlo, a single woman, wishes for a child, a magic seed from outer space flies into the room and impregnates her. A strange wooden boy is born, whom the surprised and overjoyed mother names Buratino. Buratino grows up to be a typical teenaged brat who doesn’t quite live up to his mother’s expectations. He plays in a band with his gawky friends Artemon, Pierrot and Toivo. To sell Mamma Carlo’s pastries, they sneak into the gated part of the city where the rich people live. There they create disturbances, get in trouble with the police, and look for inspiration for their songs. The spacey delinquents fail to notice the giant skyscraper where Carabas Barabas, a malevolent billionaire, has set a trap. He wants to get his hands on a legendary boy who is half wooden, half human, inside of whom grow millions of magic seeds. The pranks of Buratino and his friends collide with Carabas Barabas’ plans to conquer the world by putting the seeds to evil use. Chaos ensues, the likes of which the city has never seen before.

ANOTHER
A twisted love triangle (a prison warden, a female prison guard and a male prisoner) that in this case does not lead any of the involved parties either to the altar or to attempting suicide in romantic desperation. Instead, the protagonists achieve liberation from their own personal spiritual imprisonment. But what kind of walls exactly do the three protagonists have to break through? How does one find out what actually limits and inhibits us from getting on with their lives – and from being happy, even when free? The dance feature Another (Teine) was shot in Tartu Prison, Estonia. The film is partly based on real life events.
